We all wish at times that we could start over. We wish we had some magical eraser that could eliminate the memory of that broken relationship, that wayward email we shouldn’t have sent, the damage of a messed-up family life. How many areas of your life (and every single one of us has them) do you wish weren’t a part of your history? Maybe you wouldn’t stumble and fall so much. Maybe, if you didn’t carry your past with you, you wouldn’t keep running the same lap weekend after pointless weekend. You can try to cling to the notion that your experiences make you who you are today; but when you are quietly honest with yourself, you know it’s just not working. This morning, begin again. Really. It can all be washed, deleted, and undone. What we all need to discover is that our scars are not part of the original design. There is a “you” waiting on the other side of hope.

Our guest speaker, Jonathan Aitken, has had one of the most high profile and colorful careers in British public life. He is an author, broadcaster, columnist, lecturer and campaigner for prison reform. He is also a former Cabinet Minister, Member of Parliament, and ex-prisoner. In this message he recounts some of his experiences in life's depths, and talks about how God found him there.
