Our Story

In the Spring of 2005, ten people decided to take a risk.

They were certain that God was telling them to go, but they did not know where or how. Desiring to preserve a small ministry in Hollywood, the “founding families” pooled their resources to host a service at the American Legion Hall on Highland Avenue. It was clunky and unprofessional. The room was hot, the sound system was a relic, and they weren’t sure anyone would show up. But there was a need. And people showed up. It was the start of Life Together.

Soon the founders realized that something was happening that was completely different than what they intended. They were planting a church. A blur of miracles made this a reality. God guided mysteriously and lovingly. And through this process, Ecclesia’s foundational principles of biblical teaching, leadership, stewardship and outreach began to emerge.

Threaded in our very fabric was an intense passion to demonstrate the love of God here at home and all over the world. Within the first year we launched global partnerships in India, Southeast Asia and Africa. Locally, we started relationships with ministries working with the homeless on Skid Row and in Hollywood. Our “Partner over program” principle guides us to work with the ministries who already have infrastructure in place and know the culture in which they work.

After worshiping in seven locations in our first 3 years, in May of 2007 God led us to the Hollywood Pacific Theater. Uniquely positioned in an iconic building, on an iconic street, in an iconic city, we are striving to bring the love and life of Jesus to those on the Boulevard and beyond.

What Ecclesia is now is not what any of the founders would have dreamed. God has been visible in every detail of our narrative so far. And as we continue to place our trust completely in him, we are eager to see how He will continue to write our story.
